Consumers have selected Elovena® as Finland’s most sustainable brand for the fourth time, according to the Sustainable Brand Index ranking. The study measures Finnish consumers’ perceptions of brand sustainability.
Elovena® brand’s sustainability efforts are part of Raisio’s long-term approach, which combines environmental responsibility with healthy food. Alongside climate action and packaging development, the core of our sustainability work is a concrete goal: to provide tasty and healthy food for everyday life. We aim to offer products that support both people’s well-being and the environment. The impact is tangible when a sustainable choice is also a nutritionally sound one. The Sustainable Brand Index recognition confirms that consumers acknowledge this work – and that sustainability is increasingly linked to measurable nutritional impact.
Elovena® brand’s sustainability recognition highlights the importance of sustainability within Raisio Group’s strategy. The Transformative Power of Food 2026–2030 is our new sustainability program guiding our daily work; we produce delicious food that supports healthier eating habits. The programme is based on our strategy, stakeholder expectations and a double materiality assessment – an evaluation of the impact themes that are most significant from both an environmental and societal perspective and from the perspective of Raisio’s business. Our goal is to develop the food chain in line with our environmental and sustainability targets – from field to consumer. In this way, sustainability forms part of our growth strategy and the foundation of our competitive advantage.
Fibre Deficit Is a Public Health Challenge
Dietary guidelines list numerous benefits of fibre. A fibre-rich diet supports the well-being of the gut microbiota and promotes weight management. Despite its many benefits, fibre intake remains low. 70% of Finnish adults consume too little fibre, and in most countries the situation is even more concerning.
Wholegrain oats are naturally high in fibre and contain beta-glucan, which lowers cholesterol and supports post-meal blood glucose management. Oat fibre also promotes digestive health. One serving of wholegrain oat porridge provides approximately 18% of the recommended daily fibre intake.
For the Elovena® brand, sustainability means food that benefits both the environment and people. When a choice supports responsible production as well as personal well-being, sustainability becomes a concrete everyday action. Of all Elovena® products, 87% are high in fibre and 85% carry the Finnish Heart Symbol.
Sustainability Throughout the Value Chain
Elovena® brand’s sustainability work covers the entire value chain, from oat fields to packaging. Oats are sourced from Finnish contracted farmers with whom we actively implement sustainable farming practices. The majority of our products’ ingredients are plant-based, and all Elovena® packaging is recyclable.
Looking Ahead: Measurable Impact
Elovena® continues to develop its products with the aim of further strengthening the connection between environmental responsibility and nutritional quality. In the future, sustainability will increasingly be assessed also in terms of the health impacts food can achieve at population level.
“We want to help build solutions that benefit both the environment and public health. Food plays a significant role in people’s everyday lives and overall well-being. For us, sustainability means ensuring that good choices – such as wholegrain oats and fibre – are also easy choices in everyday life,” says Meri Mattila, Elovena® Brand Manager.
The Sustainable Brand Index recognition is a sign of consumer trust in Elovena® – and at the same time a commitment to continue working to ensure that sustainability is visible in cultivation, packaging and on the plate.
